Data Engineer with strong Microsoft Fabric focus
Are you eager to be part of Atea’s data transformation and help build the foundation for trusted, scalable, and business-driven data across the Nordics and Baltics?
At Atea, we are on a journey to developing our modern Data Platform in close partnership with Microsoft. We are now looking for a curious, motivated, and skilled Data Engineer who wants to contribute to a committed team and help shape how data is collected, structured, governed, and made available across the organization.
If you are passionate about modern data platforms, data modelling, Microsoft Fabric, and turning business needs into reliable data solutions, we would be excited to receive your application.
Your role
As a Data Engineer, you will play an important role in building, maintaining, and improving Atea’s modern dataplatform. You will work closely with data architects, data governance specialists, product owners, business stakeholders, and development teams to ensure that our data solutions are scalable, trusted, well-documented, and aligned with business objectives.
You will contribute both technically and functionally, helping us create robust data pipelines, reusable datamodels, high-quality data products, and clear data lineage. The role is part of Atea’s broader transformation towards a more data-driven and AI-enabled organization, where trusted data serves as the foundation for decision-making, automation, reporting, business development, and future AI innovation. You will play a key role in ensuring that our data platform can support advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI solutions at scale. Atea strongly believes in continuous learning and offers opportunities for training, certification, and professional development.
Your tasks may include
- Developing, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines, data models, and ETL/ELT processes in Microsoft Fabric.
- Designing and implementing scalable data solutions that support business-critical processes, analytics, reporting, and enterprise applications.
- Working with data from multiple source systems and ensuring that data is properly structured, transformed, documented, and made available for consumption.
- Supporting the implementation and maintenance of Atea’s information model and common datastructures.
- Collaborating with business stakeholders, data owners, data stewards, architects, and development teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Supporting data quality processes by identifying, analysing, and resolving data-related issues together with business and technical stakeholders.
- Contributing to metadata management, data cataloguing, and data lineage using tools such as Microsoft Purview.
- Supporting Master Data Management initiatives by implementing and maintaining data structures for key business entities.
- Monitoring and optimizing data solutions for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Ensuring that data engineering solutions follow agreed standards, governance principles, and platform best practices.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of development processes, documentation, reusable patterns, and ways of working.
What we are looking for
To succeed in this role, we believe you are a structured, curious, and collaborative person with a strong interest in data and modern cloud-based data platforms. You enjoy solving problems, understanding business needs, and building technical solutions that create real value. You are comfortable working in an agile and changing environment and can balance hands-on technical delivery with a holistic understanding of how datasupports business processes. You take ownership of your work, actively contribute to improvements, and communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are also interested in the “why” behind data solutions, not only the “how”, and you understand the importance of data quality, documentation, governance, and long-term maintainability.
To excel in this role, we believe you should have
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar data engineering role.
- Strong hands-on experience with the Microsoft data platform, especially Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience with technologies such as Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Microsoft Purview.
- Strong skills in data modelling, data transformation, and building scalable data pipelines.
- Good understanding of data management principles, including data quality, metadata, lineage, and documentation.
- Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into scalable technical solutions while collaborating effectively across business and IT teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a structured approach to prioritization and delivery.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
It is considered meritorious if you
- Have a good understanding of Data Governance and how it impacts data engineering.
- Have experience with Master Data Management (MDM) or enterprise information models.
- Have experience implementing data lineage, metadata, or governance-related capabilities in Microsoft Purview.
- Have experience working with data products, domain-oriented data ownership, or federated datagovernance.
- Hold a DP-700 Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification or similar Microsoft certification.
